step of faith baptist church

For we walk by faith, not by sight.

~ 2 Cor. 5:7

The Step of Faith Church Covenant’s mission is to step out in faith by serving God, proclaiming His Word, extending grace and imparting hope to a broken world.

Our Mission

Our History

Rev. Dr. Andrew Gamble, Founder

The Word of God that same year. God used him prophetically in his childhood, revealing many events that would change the course of his life and the lives of family members. He realized, too, at this early age, that God would use him to do His Will and he devoted His life to working towards that goal.

Dr. Gamble was drafted into the army in 1943 and served in World War II. While in the military, he obtained a Masters Degree in Engineering, High Pressure Boiler, Master Mechanic, and Tailoring and Carpentry. After an honorable discharge, he moved from Alexandria, Virginia to Baltimore, Maryland. Feeling a need to advance his knowledge of God's Word, Dr. Gamble enrolled in D.R. Rogers Seminary (1954 Baltimore), Baltimore Bible College (1960), Scott Theology Seminary (1963). He later attended and became a professor at Severna Park College in Severna Park, Maryland. He later enrolled in Horne University (Oakland, California) where he received a PHD in Theology.

Retiring from the Federal Bureau of Investigations in 1980, Dr. Gamble pastored for over thirty-two years. His most memorable moment was when he preached before President Ronald Reagan and Congress with over fifty thousand in attendance. He was also active in the Civil Rights Movement during the 50's and 60's and was an active member of the NAACP for over thirty-five years. Returning to South Carolina in 1984, Dr. Gamble continued to conduct Bible Study Groups which he had done in various states, for over 60 years. A life richly lived and blessed by God, Dr. Gamble devoted himself to caring for others through prayer, counseling and spiritual guidance.

Dr. Gamble departed this life on June 3, 2023, leaving a rich legacy of faith and service. Although greatly missed, he served well and is now enjoying his heavenly rewards.

His Lord said to him,

'Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord.' - Matt. 25:21
